Massachusetts Motorcycle Insurance Coverage

Motorcycles are insured just as you would an automobile and most all of the aspects and sections of the Massachusetts Auto Policy apply. The only major difference is in the section covering Personal Injury Protection (PIP). The driver and passengers, while riding a motorcycle, are not covered by PIP. However, the owner of the motorcycle must purchase this coverage to protect other people who may be injured by the motorcycle.

The Massachusetts Rider Education Program (MREP) administratively oversees and supports a network of eight motorcycle safety schools that offer Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) approved courses. These schools operate thirteen sites across our state and are a must for any new rider but can also even benefit the seasoned pro. Not only do you obtain your license at the end of the course you can also gain a limited discount of up to 10% on your motorcycle insurance after course completion.
